Privacy Policy
Effective date: February 1, 2024 · Last updated: May 7, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes what data National Law Helpline ("we," "us," "our") collects when you use the website nationallawhelpline.com (the "Website"), and how we process, store, and protect it. By using the Website or submitting the request form, you agree to the terms of this Policy.
1. What Data We Collect
We collect only the information necessary to respond to your inquiry and to handle a potential case:
- your name and contact details (phone, messaging app) that you provide in the consultation form;
- a brief description of your situation that you voluntarily share in the form or in correspondence;
- technical session data: IP address, device and browser type, referral source, and cookies — for analytics and to protect the Website.
2. How We Use the Data
- to contact you and provide an initial free consultation;
- to assess the prospects of your case and prepare a proposal;
- to comply with the requirements of EU law (including the EU bar's attorney-advertising rules) and to retain records for the required periods;
- to keep the Website secure and prevent abuse.
3. Legal Basis for Processing
We process your data on the basis of your consent (submitting the form), as well as our legitimate interest (responding to a prospective client's inquiry) and the obligations imposed on attorneys by the EU bar's professional-conduct rules and EU law.
4. Whom We Share Data With
We do not sell or share your data with third parties for commercial purposes. Disclosure is possible only in three cases:
- to services that keep the Website running (hosting, analytics, email notifications) — under data-protection agreements;
- in response to lawful requests from a court, prosecutor, or regulator;
- to staff and contractors engaged by the practice who need access to the case file in order to work on it.
5. Attorney-Client Privilege
The information you share in the course of a consultation is protected by attorney-client privilege and by the EU bar's professional-conduct rules. The content of your communications is not disclosed to third parties without your written consent, except in the cases expressly provided for by law.
6. Data Retention
Requests that do not lead to an engagement are kept for no more than 12 months. The case files of current and former clients are retained for the periods set by the EU bar's professional-conduct rules (as a rule, at least 7 years from the closing of the case).
7. Your Rights
You have the right to request from us:
- a copy of the data we hold about you;
- correction of inaccurate data;
- deletion of data (subject to the attorney's obligation to retain case files);
- withdrawal of consent you previously gave for processing;
- information about the third parties to whom your data has been disclosed.
Send your request through the form on the home page — we will respond within 30 days.
8. Cookies
The Website uses strictly necessary cookies to operate the form and session, as well as analytics cookies (aggregated, without identifying the user) to improve the Website. You can disable cookies in your browser settings; this may affect the operation of certain features.
9. Security
We use channel encryption (HTTPS), restricted access to request data, and regular security audits. Nonetheless, no system of transmitting data over the internet is completely secure; we cannot fully guarantee its security.
10. Children
The Website is not intended for persons under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect the personal data of minors.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy. The current version is always available at this address; the date of the last update is shown at the top of the document.
